Orlando, Florida

The Orlando Project, a 129 MW natural gas-fired combined-cycle cogeneration facility located in Orlando, Florida, achieved commercial operation in September 1993. The Project is owned by Orlando CoGen Limited, L.P., in which Atlantic Power indirectly owns a 50% interest. Northern Star Generation indirectly owns the remaining 50% partnership interest.

Orlando sells its electric output to Progress Energy Florida and Reedy Creek Improvement District, pursuant to long-term power purchase agreements that expire in 2023 and 2013, respectively.  Following expiry of the Reedy Creek PPA, Orlando will sell the associated capacity and energy to Progress Energy.  The Project is situated adjacent to an air separation facility owned by Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., which serves as the Project's steam host. Orlando also sells chilled water to the Air Products facility.

The Project has entered into gas supply agreements with affiliates of Northern Star Generation that expire in 2013.  Northern Star provides operations and maintenance services under a long-term contract with the Orlando Project.

In 2005, Orlando upgraded its combustion turbine resulting in improvements to output and heat rate.  In 2008, the Project upgraded its gas turbine compressor increasing the facility's efficiency.
